Michael Jeffrey Adams is the main protagonist of Kenneth Kerns' The Mike Adams Series. The books cover five years in the life of the author-turned-politician, as events compel him to a final confrontation with a secret society at his alma mater.

Concept and creation
According to Kerns, the idea for Mike Adams and the eponymous series of novels began with talk among his college friends of writing "SG: The Movie", a screenplay about the drama of their campus politics. Kerns readily acknowledges that aspects of the character are largely based on his own experience, from his political outlook to his frustrations about his college days. Additionally, whole anecdotes from Reunion At University Avenue are lifted from real experiences, or blended together for plot purposes.
Name changes were rampant throughout that first novel, and it started with the protagonist, whose first name is actually Kenneth's middle name - a pattern he kept for the rest of the Adams siblings. Of course, Mike's meta-novel features a character named Ben Burns, which is an obvious weak and nod toward Kerns.

Character traits
Idealistic at times, Mike can appear both cold and lonely because of his principles. He loves the political process, and is fiercely loyal to his University - its faults and its accomplishes. He generally keeps close counsel with a select few friends, but has grown gregarious as he's found success in life.
Other uses
Kerns has used the "Mike Adams" alias in various online government simulations, including Road to the Presidency and American Government Simulation.
For the latter, Kerns released a fictional anthology entitled "From Maverick To Statesman", which is a collection of political writings created for the game and repackaged as a "best of" collection for that game's longest running character.
